The Cape Fur Seal (Arctocephalus pusillus), is found prolifically around the coastal waters of South Africa and Namibia.
The hides that we are occasionally offered by a registered tannery are certified to be 'saved' skins from seals that have died through natural causes or by accident or through a humane culling programme by a recognised body and under strict controls.
This is the softest of furs we use, is extremely dense and colours vary through the browns into deep silver with almost a blue sheen on the tips of each follicle.
All our sporrans are lined with our signature burgundy suede.
